How to contribute to this website

To contribute a house: To contribute a house to this website please e-mail a photograph and the house's street address (if this is a rural structure, please supply the "fire/police/ambulance" address) to

Nina Chapple
with as much of the following information as possible:
  • Date of construction (is this date estimated or documented?);
  • Type of house (was it originally single-family, semi-detached, rowhouse, farmhouse?);
  • Type of stone on the front façade (is it limestone, sandstone, fieldstone, granite fieldstone, rubblestone, other?);
  • Type of stone on side and rear façades (same as above);
  • Builders (are architect and/or stone mason known?);
  • Original owners of the building;
  • Interesting stories about the house itself, owners, or residents;
  • Property description (original size? present-day size?).

    We'd also like to receive photos with fire-addresses and similar amplifying information for outbuildings (barns, bakehouses and so on). Although this database isn't intended to include commercial buildings (or churches or public buildings), we'd be happy to receive quirky exceptions, for example, a tiny stone blacksmith's shop which might otherwise be overlooked.

    To conribute further information about a structure already included in this inventory: We're delighted to receive additional information about any structure included in this inventory, for example, memories and descriptions from someone who grew up in the house. Unfortunately, we don't have the capacity to file this sort of information awaiting the day when the primary reference is contributed! We need the photo and address first!

    To contribute a complete inventory: If you're a member of an historical society, or perhaps you work for a community museum, or you're a member of LACAC, and/or a geologist, or just someone with another special interest, and you're in a position to forward a completed community inventory, please e-mail

    Nina Chapple
    to arrange to forward this material.

    To correct an error: If you discover an error in this inventory, no matter how small, we'd like notification! We honour sharp-eyed proof-readers! Please e-mail

    Nina Chapple
    with this subject-line: ERROR!!
